hey everybody,

first of all..it is good to be a blogger again..n i really hope that i will always update my blog in order to fulfill my empty time at home.. as u all know that life getting bored from day to day until i go for my practical training this january.

as far as i can see here..i'm doing nothing at home..for day to night and to day again..i open my fb for nothing..owh man!! how can this will last i don't even know..hahha..

by da way..to share with u guys..now i was 20 already and i just get a chance to do my car license..as i was soo excited to get the license but i was lazy to go for training...hahha..mimi..always postpone her work..as i care..hahha..

orait..as long as my parents were not at home..i have to handle her business as what i afford to do..they went to bangkok as well as dubai..hope to get lots of gifts from there..hikhik...

uhhh...actually i done know what to write n tell everyone about what i feel right now..i am a secretive person means that i don't like sharing with others..huhu..but somehow..we have to do that in order to release a lil bit of the burden.. i now truly have a heart feeling towards somebody..heheh..sounds like ermm..this much more about a guy..owh no no no..not the right time for me to think about this..maybe later on keyh!!

i woke up late around 9.30 t0 10 in the morning..i take a bath, breakfast outside with my parents, hang around with nothing to do..back home..on9..fb fb fb n fb..ym..fb again..eat, bath, pray, n sleep late at night..

if i were ask what scenery that i wish to be at that moment, i will answer sunset..sit on the sand and waiting for it..i love sea, i love beach and i love sunset..
time of sunset is defined as the moment the trailing edge of the sun's disk disappears below the horizon in the west.
the calmness is here..i'm waiting and waiting to see this moment..maybe i need someone to accompany me..so..it could be more memorable..
this can be the most precious moment for me..urrghhhh..we the time will come..i wait n wait n wait..

I have always felt that people that are your true friends may not always be the ones that you see everyday, or have a drink or coffee with.

But in some cases, your true friends are the people you have not spoken to in a while, or have not sat down with to chat. True friendship does not always require constant physical contact but thrives more on a spiritual connection.

I feel like very few people nowadays appreciate the true meaning of friendship. We have lost the meaning of having a friend and being a friend in our lives. We have come to assume that if we know one’s name and say hello to them everyday, then we are friends.

We associate friendship with brief encounters of human contact . The world has become such a fast paced racetrack that we are all busy speeding our way to the finish line. We don’t stop for just a moment to have actual connections with the people around us. We seem to find ourselves crashing into each other, with very little emotional connection and we assume that we are now friends.

The world we live in today makes it almost impossible to have friends and to be a friend. We are too busy with our lives, chasing after big dreams and big money. We don’t realize that along the way, we will need someone to be by our side.

We affix our eyes on the fantasy of the big win that we relinquish the reality of a meaningful life filled with people who stand by our side. We have come to believe that friendship is a luxury we cannot afford. We have come to assume that friends always want something from us, and we are not so willing to give. Our lives have become as expensive as the world is. We have very little to spare. Everything is measured by monetary value. It’s all about what you can do for me.

I believe that friendship is about defying the odds that the world has set against us. Great friendships were never been made in times of riches and plenty . Great friendship are made in times of hunger, pain and hopelessness.

True friends are those that come running when every one else is running out of our lives.

True friends are the ones that will pick up the pieces of our brokenness and somehow make us whole again.

Friends are the ones that are never afraid to tell us the truth, even though it may hurt. They will save us from our sinking ship, even though we refuse to heed their warnings.

True friends are always the first ones there and the last ones to leave. They are the ones that will know our weaknesses and will never reveal them to the world. True friends are those that will laugh at our faults and correct our thoughts. They are the ones that will shield us from the harsh judgment the world will have for us. They will stand beside us to share out shame and fame. They are the ones that will travel half way across the world when our worlds come crashing down. Friends never expect anything but our true friendship in return. There is no jealousy or completion, but a rare partnership that only a true heart and mind can understand.

We all need to be friends and have friends. We need to quit being selfish, realize what is to be selfless and begin to be worthy friends to those around us.

We need to rediscover the journey of friendship and begin to practice the lessons we learn along the way. We need to quit being paranoid, walking around with the notion that the person who is saying hello to us, trying to get to know us better, really has some hidden agenda.

We need to stop thinking that maybe they want to know about us so that they can tell the whole world who we really are, the problems we have and the plans we may have.

We need to rid ourselves of the thought that by opening ourselves to people, we have much to lose and they have so much to gain.

We need to realize that not everyone is out to bring us down and maybe they are looking for the great friend in us that we have not given a chance to be revealed.

We need to have a hunger for the power of great friendship. We need to yearn for the chance to be the ones that rise to the occasion, the ones that will be a hero to our friends. The ones that will be the first ones there, help put the fire and be the last ones to leave.

We need to open ourselves to trust another human being to be our hero and be there when we least expect it.

We all need to realize some very important things. Just because we talk to someone everyday and see them everyday, it does not mean that they are our true friend. It may be the person hidden in the corner , watching from afar that will be there. Our daily encounters will be the first ones to run out.

I am always telling people that if you know a person only by their first name and have no clue what their last name is, then that may not be a friend but an encounter. I know it may be a funny way to measure friendship, but it reveals the limit of your interaction with that person. If you don’t go beyond the first name, then you may not want to know more about that person. Think about it. Why wouldn’t you want to know your friend’s first and last name?

We owe it to ourselves to go beyond the first name, break the barriers of paranoia and selfish attitudes. We need to have true and meaningful friendships and be true friends.

We must break down the walls and let friendship be a part of our lives because we all need a friend to count on. This is the time for a more meaningful connection.

The only way to have a friend is to be one.

I found that this subject is a little bit interesting and motivated. At first, I don’t really like this subject because it wanted me to read a lot and think critically. But after I done a lot of exercises, it has improve my reading habit and skills. It taught me on how to think critically towards each issue. With help from lecturer and friends, I can improve on how to do my assignment and finally I manage to come out with a long paragraph on the perspective and positioning which is the toughest part in those ten elements. Now, I already submitted the final assignment and waiting for my result which I am not sure that I will satisfied or not.hehe..

Invasion of baby snatcher is talked about the kidnapping and murder towards children that happened in western country. This topic has been discussed in class with lecturer and exercise on the ten elements has been done and discussed the answer in class. This article found not really hard to understand because it was regarding the kidnapping on children which is also happened in own country.

The second last topic is a discussion about dieting: a waist is a terrible thing to mind. This topic is about the bad effect on dieting program which can cause disease like bulimia and anorexia nervosa. These happened because wrong style of dieting among people which are focusing on becoming thin but not health. This task has been discussed in group when each members of each group have to read and give a point to be present in front. This style found very interesting and easy to understand.

The last topic for critical literacy this semester is an article about dilemma of a President of South Africa, which he had to choose either one which is the most important to his country. Either drug to cure the HIV or guns that are unnecessary yet to his country. To complete this task, an exercise on the ten elements has been done in groups and presented to class on the comment from other groups. This is a practice on how to make the final assignment.

Reading 5.3 discuss about types of exposition: persuading that and persuading to while reading 5.4 discuss about metaphor. In reading 5.3, the presenter explained about the analytical and hortatory exposition, hortatory exposition, reasoning in exposition, personality in exposition, and exposition in metaphor. Exposition is a systematic interpretation or explanation (usually written) of a specific topic, analytical is to explain why things are as they are and hortatory is giving strong encouragement to explain why they should change the thing. Hortatory exposition is commonly found in editorial, letters to the editor, sermons, political speeches & debates, and office memo. Reasoning in exposition is the process of thinking about something and making a judgment and decision. There are four ways to know about reasoning which are verbs, conjunction, preposition and noun fatalities. Personality in exposition is the complex of all the attributes--behavioral, temperamental, emotional and mental--that characterize a unique individual.

Based on the presentation in reading 5.4, metaphor, is a process that was marginal to the everyday use of language, as a phenomenon that was confined to special domains such as that of the literary language. Language acts as a vehicle for transferring meanings from the mind of the speakers to audience. View of language and communication also known as ‘container view’. Metaphor is “nuke speaks.” It is the specific examples of the ideological potential. Besides, Nuke speaks is the language of pro- nuclear arms rhetoric which make people believe that the nuclear weapons are harmless and sensible. Based on the presenter, this topic is related to critical literacy is Readers have to be aware with the ideological that the writer state in any text, do not trust all the words given in the text because not all are true and to persuade the readers by using harsh or soft words.

For last week’s presentation, reading 4.3, title what is evidence, the presenter explain that evidence has two part of it. There are circumstantial and testimonial. Circumstantial is not all of them are together trustworthy as a basis of determining guilty. The possibility to having an error in every case is possible that involve in evidence. For testimonial, people are always the eyewitnesses who testify that they have seen the accused commit crime. There are cross examination and complex question. Cross examination is interrupting the witness in order to expose the real fact. Complex question that contain a concealed assumption.

In presentation 4.4, statistic, they talked about the importance of the statistic where it provided tools for prediction and forecasting based on data. They also stated that statistical methods can be used to summarize or describe a collection of data. There are four common statistical slip Unqualified average, Misleading presentation, Fallacious sampling and Percentages unaccompanied by actual numbers. This topic related to critical literacy, when we have to be careful with numbers that stated in a result because sometimes the numbers are not real.

According to presentation 4.5, Crooked and Fallacious Thinking, they defined crooked as dishonest and fallacious thinking as based on a false idea. In transferring result, a crooked thinker transfers the prestige of something while in circular argument; a crooked thinker may give the impression that he is saying something meaningful and logical when he is in fact not proving anything. False analogy is when a crooked thinker A crooked thinker may use the small degree of similarity to give the impression that the things are in all ways alike.

Based on the presentation for reading 3.3, the presenters have classified text A in page 13 as a discussion which is a written genre typically used to present a reasoned account of both sides of an issue. There are two patterns to show how grammar positions the reader. There are negative pattern and positive pattern. Positive pattern countered non-risk behavior while both patterns associated with risk are always positive and negative attitude associated with non-risk taking. For the text B in page 14, the presenter called it as report which it is a standard general in the sciences and social sciences. It presents as fact and not really opens to questions and also informed the text participant or text user seems like unproblematic. The presenters stated that the qualities are abstract nouns which both abstract from and summarize information in the quotes in Text A. These are how it relates to Critical Literacy, positioning is how the writer gives role to the participants in the text. The linguistic is connected with language or the study of language.
According to the presentation 3.4, the presenters defined discourse as ways of speaking or writing which promote a particular view of world and how it should be and sexist discourse as the socialization of the natural category of sex as gender. They give examples on describing the different types of women. This relate to Critical Literacy is we need to become aware of how text position us and don’t be over persuaded by the writer.

According to the presentation for reading 2.2, they explain about the perspective and ideology. The definition for ideology is a national, political and social philosophy which is the belief system and outlook of a particular group of people. Perspective means that the writer’s view about the article either good or bad view on that. In the presentation, it was stated that there are two different perspectives, white perspective and black perspective. For the white perspective, they are more focus on white audience which shows that they are bias on white people and in the article they condemn the black audience. Instead of white perspective, writer also stated the black perspective in the article. It focus on the black audience which condemning the white people. Different writers show different perspective. They bias on the black audience just to give them strength and also to fight for their right.
Based on the presentation reading 2.3, text and textualities, the presenters talked about in every text, there are always socially constructed to have the certain meanings. Under the social text and social meanings, myth is a set of sign which implies extremely familiar and influential social structures of thinking. A basic set of steps which can be used to study many types of text and their social meaning. The step for textual analysis is signs-connotations and codes-denotation-myth. The textual production’s step is myth-denotation-codes and connotations-signs. Connotation means a meaning or connection which is implied for a person or group of people and denotation is the part of meaning of a word or expression which refers to something in a real of possible world.

According to the presentation in class for reading 1.2 (background reading), form of factual writing have four types of genre. There are recount, description, procedure and report. They stated that recount is about person communicated by telling story. It was built up around a sequence of action. Spoken recount is personal while writing recount is impersonal. Procedure writing was a general conclusion which explain how things are done and it was a closest type of factual writing to narrative. Report writing is focuses on classes of things rather than individuals and the function of the report genre as a whole is to describe in general terms. Factual writing is not written by creative or imaginative compared to narrative. The developing report writing is focus on classes of thing and some general statement. The specific statement is illustrate the general point. Explanation is focus on judgment or opinion made by the writer. Sexism and factual writing was explained by the different of boys and girls. Boys tend to wrote factual writing based on nature of things while girls based on nurture of things.
As for the presentation in reading 1.3, is about rules and regulations which have six elements. They are declarative, imperative, circumlocution, will, passive and relexicalization. Declarative is all about a statement which is a fact so that the reader cannot argue with it. The giving of information seems a neutral act. Imperative is a sentence which is in the form of command. Circumlocution is more likely to be used ‘the smaller the power distance’ between writers and readers. Will is in signifies not only displacement of time but also a transformation from a statement of authority to an assertion about on impending state. Passive is using third person. It is like imperative, but unlike declarative and involves deletion of agent. Relexicalization is the process of cooling experience in new ways by inventing lexical items.
The problem that encountered to the presentation of reading 1.2 is they cannot come out with a right summary for that reading because they confuse either to write about the convicted killer or the reading itself.
